NEUTRAL CHRISTMAS DECOR IDEAS
Christmas decor or holiday decor can fit all the styles you can imagine. You can buy or DIY some decor, if you feel like it, it all depends on you. Those days are long gone, when you only had red, gold and maybe tartan to decorate for Christmas. If your apartment is colorful, you can decorate with colorful Christmas items. If your home is neutral and minimalist, then go for this type of decor. The sky is the limit.
I’m beginning a series now since Christmas will be here in no time. I will do table decor, home decor and advent calendar posts, so stay tuned! I’m starting with something, that I love the most, and it is neutral holiday decor. This can fit most styled modern homes, and it is especially perfect for those white-brown-terracotta vibes, that is so in right now. And you don’t need to change your style to fit for the holidays! Just take some inspiration here, you still have time to buy or make some decor items!
Neutral decor is all about staying close to nature. Using natural elements and colors, and going for natural textures. As for knits and textiles, go for a lot of white and beige tones, brown shades. Linens in these colors can work really well too. When you are choosing wrapping papers, go for those more rustic types, and you can choose printed ones as well. Even your tree ornaments can fit this scheme. As for decoration use apples, cinnamon, cones, chestnut. You know, the things you can find in nature.
I’m not giving away any huge secret with this: lights are essential for your winter and holiday decor. Fairy lights are perfect and you can find so many styles. Smaller or bigger bulbs, warm or cold white light, anything you want. It will make your home feel cozy and warm, and all you will want to do is to curl up on the sofa under a big blanket and enjoy your gorgeous lights.
Knits and textures
Knits are the other good old never going out of style trend for the winter and holiday season. Well, not for the Australians I suppose (and maybe not for us in a couple of years with the warm weather, but let’s not get into that right now) 🙂 As for myself, I love everything, that is knitted, huge, white or neutral and warm. And not just knits, but warm big textures, that make your home feel welcoming and warm during those colder months.
Candles are my favorite decor items for this season, I always surround myself with a ton of them this time of the year. They can be advent candles or candlesticks, scented candles, anything you want.
Note: We made a quiz for you, to get to know your personal interior design style in just 3 minutes! If you complete the quiz, you will be able to personalize 2018 trends for yourself 🙂
