HOW TO CHOOSE BATHROOM FAUCETS

Bathroom faucets

Yesterday I got the opportunity to go to a factory where they manufacture kitchen and bathroom faucets. This visit inspired me to write this article, since there are so many aspects to take into consideration when you need to pick the the right faucets for your bathroom, and the market is so huge, that I think we all need some guidance! Faucets are the jewels of any bathroom, and even moderate price options offer very nice pieces nowadays, you don’t need to break the bank for them. They are available in a spectacular array of shapes and finishes, and some technical qualities we need to take into consideration when picking the right one!

Buying faucets

What you need to think through, before buying faucets. You need to consider whether you are buying a new sink, or using an existing one and where is the faucet opening. You need to think through what features you and your family want and need, and how much faucets you actually need. This usually depends on the size of your bathroom.

Now, let’s go through what types of faucets are there on the market! To make a detailed list of these I used the help of the internet, thank you so much HGTV website:)

Single-hole faucets combine the spout and mixing handles—often a single lever—into one unit that requires only one drilled sink hole. For retrofits, some models include a bottom plate that will cover existing three-hole openings. Single-hole faucets are ideal for smaller sinks, such as powder room baths. Their simplicity reflects modern sensibilities.Simple faucet

Center-set faucets

Center-set faucets fit standard three-hole sinks (with outer holes drilled 4 inches apart). They’ll have either a single lever or two handles mounted on a 6-inch plate. They’re ideal for most bathroom sinks.Timeless faucet

Widespread mounts

Widespread mounts have three separate pieces: Two handles and the spout. The standard distance between the handles is at least 8 inches, and the three pieces tend to be larger than other types of bath faucets. Smaller versions, called minispreads, are designed for standard holes drilled 4 inches apart.Widespread mount

Wall mount faucets

Wall mount faucetshave gained popularity along with freestanding or vessel-type sinks that require longer spouts that extend well over the top of the bowl.Wall-mount faucet

Finishes

Now, let’s look at all the finishes! The most traditional one is the polished chrome finish, but I have good news for you. Manufacturers make so many new finishes these days, that if you are tired of the standard chrome look or going for another vibe in your bathroom, you have a very wide selection to choose from! Without making an effort to list all the options, there are brushed chrome, polished nickel, brushed nickel, hammered nickel, stainless steel, bronze, brushed bronze, oil-rubbed bronze, polished brass, black, white and decorative ceramic and polished gold. As I see trends for this season, polished brass and gold are very popular, so you might want to give them a chance!

Traditional faucet

If you are into a traditional look, this faucet is a good choice!

If you are deciding on the style of your faucets, the sky is the limit! Fortunately these days manufacturers hire talented and well-known designers, so you can choose from a lot of different styles. Whether you want a more traditional bathroom, or a minimal modern one, I’m sure you will find very good options on the market for all styles! My tip is, that if you don’t know yet a particular style, opt for a simple look, you can never go wrong with that, and choose your bathroom vibe later!
